Below we’ll be discussing 5 tips on how I make blogging my weddings easy and effective — now don’t click away! Hear me out and I may just change your mind if you (like me) HATE writing blogs!
Tip One: WHY?
If you are like me and HATE writing blogs, here’s WHY you HAVE to write them:
Consistently posting boosts your SEO. That’s a No brainer.
It’s 100% FREE marketing. Who doesn’t love free?
Your clients will LOVE being features and share it with family and friends and those people will refer YOU when asked if they know a wedding photographer.
An inactive blog can make it appear to a future client that you’re out of business. YIKES
Right about now, many of you are thinking, UGGHHHH – I know I should BUT:
“I am terrible at writing.”
“No one reads my blog!”
“Uhh one more thing to add to my ever-growing list of things to do!”
Stay tuned, and I should overcome each of those things you may think!
How I help my wedding photography clients is I’m all about creating systems to make this crazy wedding business easier and more effective.
TIP TWO: Pre-Wedding Questionnaire
One way I do that is with my pre-wedding questionnaire for my clients: This enables me to easily and quickly write a blog to post within 72 hours after the wedding (YES I know, roll your eyes – I’ll explain more in a sec)
TIP THREE: Include four basic things in each blog post
These are four things I put in every single blog post as a minimum:
What is the name of the venue, where is it located (city name and area), and the couple’s first name. TIP: make sure all of that is in the FIRST PARAGRAPH as this is what will spike your SEO and get you found.
How did the couple meet?
How did the groom propose?
Describe their first date?
TIP FOUR: Include 35-50 images
Then after writing the blog, I take my favorite images typically 50-75 (yes I know that’s a lot but this is my sneak peek for my brides 48-72 hours after the wedding) and it boosts your SEO. It’s part of my process so I can photograph my wedding, deliver the sneak peek in 72 hours and enjoy all of the traffic to my website and social media accounts because the bride and groom are sharing it with all their friends and family. I get the work done, and my clients and their friends and family are blown away because RARELY does that happen.
Naming/Sizing your images: I use Blogstomp (but there is other software out there) and it resizes and names them so incredibly fast (and who has time?). Things to think about. Why? Well images names are also SEO searchable and when your title, your blog details, and your images have keywords, your website/blog will start rising in google algorithm and you’ll rise higher on the search page for your location or venue:
You must resize them as you don’t want your blog loading slowly or people will click away
Name them important searchable words like venue, city, state, your name, wedding. EX. SanJoseCAWeddingatXYZbyJenVazquezPhotography1
TIP FIVE Including Branding words:
Lastly, make sure that you include your branding words (three words that describe your ideal bride and brand – for me is adventurous, playful and fun party brides). You can use these words somewhere in each blog post and an unconscious pattern will develop for your brides to be about your brand and it helps google show your content to your ideal brides.

15 things I’ve learned becoming 50: Turning 50 this year has impacted me in many ways. I’ve learned a lot by failing a lot and loving myself more.
I have a business habbit of having blocked time each week to watchTedTalks. They are valuable to me as I can learn, be inspired and also get out of my head or a business problem.
Today, I was inspired by Anne Lamott on a TedTalk from 2017. She wrote a list of “12 truths I learned from life and writing” upon turning 61. I am no writer, but I wanted to get my own thoughts in my journal. Today I decided to share them.
So, here is a list of a few things that I’ve learned by becoming 50:
Unplugging something that isn’t working almost always fixes it. That includes you.
My children make me incredibly proud and sincerely worried all at the same time. And that is o.k.
We can’t help our friends and family by trying to “fix their problems”. They have problems that are theirs in truth and/or in their heads. The best you can do is lend an ear and a shoulder to cry on. I find giving advice is not necessarily needed or wanted. (I really should stop trying unless asked)
Facebook isn’t the place to get the news.
Praying for patience (my biggest work in progress) is not a good thing. I find that instead of providing the wherewithal to be more patient, God tends to put obstacles in place for us to have an opportunity to work on patience.
Dogs are better listeners than people.
I will never like coffee. I will never not like french fries.
No one can copy you at anything (business or personal) because no one can ever be you.
A good bra fitting makes all the difference in the world
Quitting smoking and diet coke was two of the best things I’ve done for my health. Giving up diet coke was harder than giving up smoking.
The older I get, the smarter my mom is
To live a happier life, give up friends who are negative.
Making mistakes is actually the BEST way to grow as a person and in your business.
I’m not perfect and I’ll never be perfect.
I don’t feel 50. I’ve come to realize that what you feel in your head almost never equals your age on earth. And that’ o.k.
I hope that my list inspires you to write your own list. You can read more blogs below:

Do you want to harness your Pinterest site to drive traffic to your website and thus gain more client, but you don’t know where to start? I’m here to help! Here are three easy steps to update your Pinterest profile.
ONE – Personal vs. Business: This is obvious – if you are in business to make money, then make sure that you have a business Pinterest account. If you don’t – change it now. Additionally, make sure to make all personal boards private or you can delete them and start again with a personal board. TIP: Some people consider keeping their personal board and then creating a new business board. You can do that! However, I prefer to keep whatever followers and I have any pins if they are business. TWO – Username and Profile Picture: This should be your business name and typically whatever your social media sites use. Sometimes you can’t use a long name, like with mine I had to choose jenvazquezphoto because jenvazquezphotography was too long. Heads Up: My Women Who Execute Pinterest site is brand new and thus, it’s not where my wedding photography one is. I always have a client or two say, wow it’s sparse haha! I’m working way harder on helping others than helping myself right now. Bottom Line: You want to choose exactly what you have for other social media sites, unless it’s too long then you shorten it.
You’re Profile Picture This should never be your logo or a picture that presents your business, it absolutely should be a picture of you. You are the face of the company and you should use a picture of you. The picture should have great lighting (think photographing outside or in front of a window or lighting system and photographed on a blank background (so nothing detracts from your face). It should also be a headshot or an image from the shoulders up. You want to be able to see your face upfront since it’s such a tiny photo anyway.
THREE – Profile Name and Description: What I’ve seen from research and trial and error myself, is that you want to use this type of look. COMPANY NAME | TOPIC. Here’s an example of mine: Jen Vazquez Photography | Wedding Photographer.
For your description, you only have 160 characters to describe what your business and the boards are about. Make sure you are very descriptive because each word helps to be found on searches in Pinterest and other search engines. It’s SEO for your Pinterest boards. Think of questions like, what do you do, who do you do it for, what you help with, what you provide, and anything that will help to drive traffic (think FREE tips to planning your wedding or bread recipes for people who have no time).
BONUS- Profile Cover: Your profile cover is auto populated but you can choose what you want to populate. You can choose what you want, but I always recommend to choose either the most popular board (you’ll find that in analytics) or Recent Activity which is Pins people saved from your claimed website and linked accounts. Why? Because if people are pinning them, then they found them compelling and chose to pin them (i.e. save them) to one of their boards. This is what you want to show to those visiting your profile.
