Branding, MERGE
Hey, camera-shy entrepreneurs and image-conscious hustlers! Jen Vazquez, your brand cheerleader, here with a megaphone full of pep and a fistful of truth: you are stunning, worthy, and ready to rock your brand photos, even if the inner critic’s doing the Macarena in your head.
Let’s face it, posing for professional pics can be nerve-wracking
The spotlight feels like a magnifying glass on every perceived flaw, and whispers of “maybe after I lose ten pounds…” dance in your ear like a bad jingle. But hold on, because I’m here to bust those body image blues and unleash your inner photogenic boss:
1. Ditch the Diet Mentality:
Your brand deserves visuals that showcase your authentic self, not a waiting room for some arbitrary weight goal. Focus on the amazing things you bring to the table – your passion, your expertise, your killer smile! Those are the ingredients that make your brand unique and magnetic.
2. Embrace Imperfections
We all have our quirks, and guess what? They often add charm and character! A freckle isn’t a flaw, it’s a sun-kissed story. A slightly crooked grin? It tells the world you’re real, approachable, and not afraid to be yourself. Celebrate your individuality, because that’s what makes you stand out.
3. Find Your Confidence Crew
Surround yourself with people who hype you up, not tear you down. Work with a photographer who gets you, celebrates your style, and makes you feel comfortable enough to let loose and have fun. Remember, a good photographer is your partner in creating magic, not a judge on a reality show.
4. Dress for Success, But More Importantly, Dress for You
Forget squeezing into something uncomfortable just because it’s trendy. Rock clothes that make you feel confident and fabulous! When you feel good, it shows through the lens, and that confidence becomes your secret weapon.
5. Remember, It’s All About Your Brand
These photos aren’t about achieving Instagram model status, they’re about telling your brand story. Focus on conveying your values, your energy, and what makes your business tick. When you connect with your audience on a deeper level, those few extra pounds melt away into insignificance.
So, are you ready to silence the inner critic and step into the spotlight?
Remember, beautiful photos aren’t about airbrushed perfection, they’re about capturing the essence of who you are and what you stand for. Embrace your quirks, unleash your confidence, and get ready to show the world the amazing brand that is YOU!
P.S. Need a cheerleader in your corner to help you rock your brand photoshoot? Hit me up! Let’s turn those camera jitters into a victory dance and create visuals that make your brand shine!
Remember, you are worthy, you are unique, and you are camera-ready. Now go forth and slay that photoshoot!

It’s not just about delivering a service; it’s about creating meaningful connections that foster loyalty and encourage repeat business. 4 | Build Trust Through Transparency
Trust is the foundation of client loyalty. Foster it by being transparent in your operations:
- Clear Communication: Set realistic expectations about your services, including timelines and potential outcomes.

Top Color Schemes and Styling Tips for Stunning Family Photos in the Bay Area
Hey there! As someone who’s been dressing our family (including grand babies) for our annual photos, I get how overwhelming it can be to choose the perfect colors. Let’s make this fun and simple with some awesome color scheme ideas!
One thing that has been easier for me to do when get outfits for my family. I find it easier for you to find an outfit that you feel beautiful in and/or a favorite outfit that you’ve gotten compliments on. Then use the advice below to color-coordinate the rest of the family.
Coordinating Family Outfits for Picture-Perfect Photos
Choose a Palette: Select 2-3 colors to create a cohesive look without matching exactly. Think of a clothing catalog where everyone’s outfits coordinate seamlessly without any one person standing out too much.
Solid Colors with a Touch of Pattern: Solid colors typically photograph best, but incorporating a light pattern on one or two people adds visual interest and variety.
Plan Ahead: Lay out all the outfits on the floor or bed a few days before your session to see how they look together. This ensures everyone’s coordinated and avoids last-minute stress.
Use Layers and Accessories: Hats, scarves, leggings, jackets, and jewelry add depth and texture to your photos, making them more visually appealing and stylish.
What Colors to Avoid (Mostly)
Don’t take this as a hard rule—think of it more as a friendly guideline. These colors typically don’t look great for an entire outfit:
- Black: It tends to dull the image and hide details. A little black is fine, but avoid large black outfits.
- Dark Blue: Similar to black, it can be too dark. Small amounts are okay, and jeans don’t count.
- Neon: Way too bright! It draws too much attention and can reflect weird colors onto skin.
- Bright White: Often looks blue in photos and can wash out skin tones. Go for off-white or cream instead.
- Bright Red: Hard to photograph and can cast colors onto skin. Dark reds are much better.
- Bright Blue: It can look unnatural in nature shots and cools down the image too much. Use sparingly.
Understanding the Color Wheel
If you’re into learning why certain colors look great together, here’s a quick look at the color wheel. You can use complementary colors (opposites on the wheel), triads (three colors forming a triangle), or analogous colors (next to each other) to create harmonious looks. Muted versions of these colors work best.
Color Relationships to Choose What to Wear
- Complementary Colors: Opposites on the color wheel. For example, olive green and maroon.
- Triad Colors: Three colors form a triangle. For instance, turquoise, yellow-orange, and pink.
- Square & Tetradic: Four colors forming a square or rectangle. Use muted versions or patterns to balance.
- Analogous Colors: Three colors next to each other. Think red-orange, orange, and yellow-orange.
- Monochromatic: Different shades of the same color. Dark green dress for mom, light green romper for baby.
Neutral Colors Are Your Friend
Neutral colors are super easy to work with and go with almost anything. Think off-white, gray, cream, taupe, etc. They’re a safe bet and can be paired with a pop of color for some fun!
Examples and Inspiration
Check out some of these examples for ideas:
- All neutrals: Looks great and can’t go wrong.
- Neutrals with a pop of color: Adds a bit of fun without going overboard.
- Balanced bold and neutral colors: A bit of both for a vibrant yet harmonious look.

Hey friends! I’m thrilled to share my recent personal brand photography session with the fabulous Michelle Ousset.
As a personal brand photographer based in San Jose, I love helping amazing people in and around the Bay Area in Northern California like Michelle showcase their unique personalities and brands through stunning visuals.
Meet Michelle Ousset: A Bay Area Creative Powerhouse
Michelle Ousset is a dynamic and inspiring creative professional here in the Bay Area. It was an absolute joy to capture her vibrant personality, and soulful and professional essence through my lens.
The Planning: Crafting a Visual Story
Before the session, Michelle and I had an in-depth discussion about her brand, her goals, and the message she wanted to convey through her photos.
This planning phase is crucial as it ensures that every shot is intentional and aligned with her brand’s identity. She was amazing at picking out the outfits and props (perfection) that would best represent her.
The Photography Session: A Day of Fun and Creativity
On the day of the shoot, the energy was high, and we were ready to create magic. We chose a variety of background looks that resonated with Michelle’s brand.
Whether it was at the desk for her coaching sessions, on the couch with her camera, backlit shear curtains blowing bubbles, or simply leaning against a white wall in her lavender outfit – she was completely herself.
Capturing the Essence: The Art of Personal Brand Photography
During the session, my goal was to make Michelle feel comfortable and confident. We laughed, posed, and captured candid moments that truly reflected her personality.
The key to great personal brand photography is authenticity, and that’s exactly what we achieved. Each photo tells a part of Michelle’s story, from her professional endeavors to her creative passions.
The Results: Stunning Visuals That Speak for Themselves
The final photos turned out beautifully, perfectly encapsulating Michelle’s brand. Whether she’s using them for her website, social media, or marketing materials, these images are a powerful tool for connecting with her audience.
The vibrant colors, genuine expressions, and thoughtful compositions make each photo a standout.
Why Personal Brand Photography Is Essential
In today’s visually-driven world, professional brand photography is more important than ever.

Don’t Forget To Pin As Inspiration For Your Next Brand Photography Session!

Branding, MERGE
So, you’re ready to take your brand photos to the next level, but with all the photographers out there, picking the right one can feel like finding a unicorn. Not to worry, we’ve got you covered! Here are 5 key questions to ask that will ensure you find the perfect photo partner for your brand:
1. Brand Whisperer? (Do you have experience photographing brands or products?)
This might seem obvious, but trust us, it’s crucial. Brand photography is different than, say, capturing your kid’s soccer game. You need someone who can speak the language of brands and translate your vision into stunning photos.
2. Planning Party? (How will you prepare for my brand session?)
Great brand photos don’t happen by accident. Ask your photographer about their planning process. Do they create mood boards with you? Scout locations? The more prepared they are, the smoother your shoot will be.
3. Sun Seeker or Studio Guru? (Do you shoot natural light or in the studio?)
Think about the vibe you want for your brand photos. Sunshine and action shots? Cozy studio setup? Knowing your photographer’s lighting preference will help you find the perfect match for your brand’s aesthetic.
4. Unveiling the Goods! (How will I receive my images?)
How will you get your hands on those amazing photos? Some photographers deliver a curated selection, while others give you access to everything. Find out their process beforehand to avoid any surprises.
5. Image Rights Rundown (What image rights do I receive?)
This might sound fancy, but it’s important. Basically, it boils down to where you can use the photos. Website and social media? Billboards and national campaigns? Knowing the image rights you get will ensure you can use your photos exactly how you need to.
By asking these questions, you’ll be well on your way to finding the perfect photographer to capture the essence of your brand. Now get out there and start snapping some magic!
