Engagement Beauty Checklist

Engagement Season Beauty Checklist will help you to look your best for that photo perfect moment!

Intuition.  You have it and it goes off when you feel like a ring is coming.   Everyone wants to have the engagement moment of a lifetime.  And who doesn’t want to look their best?  You know you’ll have selfies and share them with anyone and everyone when sharing your good news and your future children will see this image when you explain the story to them.  So let’s talk beauty prep so you look your absolute best.

Face:  You’ll be beaming but will your skin?

This is the time to be consistent with your skin routine.  Do not sleep with makeup on, do wash your face and moisturize every evening and morning. My two favorite products right now are:

Neogen Real Fresh Cleansing Stick Green Tea 80g A convenient hypoallergenic cleansing stick that contains green tea seed oil & green tea leaves. Blended with 99% natural ingredients, it creates a delicate lather to lift away daily impurities naturally without irritation.  Leaves my skin clean, clear, refreshed & hydrated.

SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Waterproof Makeup Remover  This All-in-1 cleanser is surprisingly powerful yet gentle to skin. It effectively removes even waterproof makeup, cleanses and refreshes skin.

Allure recommends, “Puffy eyes give away a lot. Lucky for you, we’ve got lots of experience testing quick fixes. The two that work best so far? Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter Anti-Puff Eye Roller, 0.5 fl. oz.which shrinks bags with caffeine and a cold metal tip (keep it in the fridge and it’ll work even better). Or dab on a makeshift eye mask with a cotton ball soaked in whole milk, half-and-half, or even artificial creamer (you’ll smell like vanilla!). They contain fat and proteins that will depuff eyes in about ten minutes.”

Weekly, do a treatment.  This can be moisturizing mask or skin purifying mask if your skin is breaking out, or a peel.  Whatever makes your skin happy, do that consistently.  I love purchasing Dermal Korea Collagen Essence Full Face Facial Mask Sheet, 16 Combo Pack which has a multitude of different facial masks to pick from depending upon what you want most in that moment.

Also, you want to use moisturizer or foundation that has SPF.  This is not the time to get a sunburn or dry out your skin from the sun.  My favorite easy tint and go SPF protection is bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream SPF 30, Suede 04, 1.18 Ounce.  Obviously, you’ll want the tint color that best matches your skin tone.

Hands:  Time to get them in shape

When he goes to put a ring on it, you’ll want to have a beautiful manicure for those pics.  Whether you are fancy and get elaborate nail colors, charms and designs or play it simple and do them yourself with clear polish, you’ll want to be consistent with your nail routine.  Keep your nails nice by doing them every few weeks.  Additionally, if you do them yourselves, make sure to complete the manicure with cuticle oil.  That’s the one thing that usually separates salon and home DIY.  But you can get cuticle oil at an affordable place like Walgreens or order online Sally Hansen Vitamin E Nail and Cuticle Oil, 0.45 Fluid Ounce.

Your hands need love too!  Get in the habit of moisturizing day and night so your hands are dewy fresh and not dry and rough.  Bride’s say’s, “We recommend Aveeno Positively Ageless Skin Strengthening Hand Cream For Dry Skin, 2.7 Oz  and using Aquaphor Healing Ointment,Advanced Therapy Skin Protectant 14 Ounce on cuticles overnight and carrying a small tube of your favorite hand lotion in your bag during the day. Take your skin-saving regimen up a notch to ensure gorgeous hands by avoiding harsh soaps, using lukewarm water and patting dry. Of course, you’ll follow that up with a lipid-replenishing hand lotion like Eau Thermale Avène Xeracalm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cream, 6.76 fl. oz..” You get the idea here though right?! Lotion those hands obsessively.

Hair: Keep up a good routine

Don’t wash it every day as it can get dry, try every other day to keep essential oils.  I love Aveeno Nourish+ Volumize Lightweight Shampoo, 10.5 Fl. Oz & Aveeno Nourish+ Volumize Lightweight Conditioner, 10.5 Fl. Oz.

Even when you don’t feel like actually curling or straightening your hair or if you have a bad hair day, you can also use a cute hair accessory, create a messy hair knot, or braid your hair.  My daughter’s favorite bad hair day secret is to brush her hair back and slick her hair into a high ponytail.

If you color your hair, now’s the time to keep your hair appointments so you don’t have major hair root growth on the top of your head.  Pictures last forever and you don’t want to go around forever explaining your bad hair day on one of the most exciting days of your life.

Good luck and best wishes!  And remember, if you decide you want to get the proposal captured on film, drop those hints and I’ll be there in a jiffy!  Contact me anytime!
