How they met

,Kayla and Chris first met when they were in middle school. Chris was Kayla’s childhood best friend’s friend’s friend (haha did you follow that?). They also went to the same high school and knew who each other but did not hang out in the same crowd.

Their first date was going to an EDM show in SF. Kayla remembers feeling really excited because she had never been to a club like that before. The next day in SF they went to Dolores Park. Chris impressed Kayla by naming all these dogs that were there.  They both felt so comfortable with each other right from the beginning.  Kayla recalls how nervous but happy she felt. They both loved this date because it was a fun vibe and both of them had positive energy.

Kayla knew within a couple of months of dating that Chris was the one.  She instantly fell in love because he made her feel so special all the time.  He showed genuine interest in who she was as a person.  They had a long distance relationship at first because Kayla lived in San Luis Obispo and he was living in Gilroy. They visited each other on weekends.

Their Engagement Story

Kayla and Christ got engaged on January 1, 2018.  They were at a New Year’s Eve party with their favorite people.  They were all drinking, talking, dancing, and having the time of their lives. All of a sudden it was like one minute from midnight and everyone was rushing to get champagne and coats on to go outside to see the fireworks. They ended up running out of time, so they did the count down and cheered inside.

At the stroke of midnight, Chris was holding a clear box with an oval peach sapphire in it in front of Kayla.  Chris said that he wanted to love Kayla forever and if she would marry him.  Spoiler alert: She said YES!!

Kayla was so caught off guard, she couldn’t hold back tears and Chris was smiling from ear to ear in anticipation as he popped the question!  Chris apparently forgot to kneel down on one knee, so their friends all shouting “you have to kneel down”.  Chris immediately kneeled and asked again. Chris definitely surprised her!

Best Date Night

Best Date: I’d say our 4 year anniversary weekend gateway in Monetary. We stayed at this beautiful hotel that had amazing panoramic beach view, fire place, and a huge spa tub with a window facing the beach. It was so romantic. We stayed there for two night. We enjoyed the restaurants nearby, found this really cool art gallery where we bought our first painting there. We had a great time.

Things they love to do with each other

  • Eat spicy Indian food
  • Relax at the beach
  • Find cool art work
  • Dance (Their first dance was to Latch, Sam Smith)
  • Listen to music
  • Go to Disneyland (This was a wedding gift that Chris gave to Kayle before the wedding)

Jen’s favorite memory

A few of my favorite things at any wedding is photographing the details (her dress, shoes, rings, etc.), seeing the brides wedding dress, and seeing the groom face when he sees her at a first look.

Beyond those above, my favorite memory at Kayla and Chris’ wedding day, was when she gave a gift to him a wedding gift right after the “first look” and before the ceremony.

You see, Kayla did a Bridal Boudoir shoot with me months before the wedding.  She chose images and I created an album.  He opened the box to surprise and gleeful interest.  I’m happy they are allowing me to share this video of his reaction.

A Ghoulish Halloween Wedding at the Brazilian Room Tilden National Park in Berkeley | Anglelica + Vincent | Jen Vazquez Photography

This blog post captures the spooktacular Halloween wedding of Angelica and Vincent at the Brazilian Room in Berkeley. Photographer, Jen Vazquez, was excited to hear that the bride would be wearing black and that the wedding would have a Halloween theme. With the help of the talented wedding planner, Leann Lane Weddings, the wedding turned out to be both gorgeous and ghoulish. The couple met on Tinder and got engaged at a pumpkin patch in October. Their favorite date was their second one where they talked for hours while walking around Golden Gate Park. They love to travel, attend concerts, go on hikes, and even visit Target together. This post showcases the unique and romantic love story of Angelica and Vincent, captured through the lens of Jen Vazquez’s photography.
