I can’t believe that it’s taken so long to write about the wonderful work that I get to do working with the Diocese of San Jose, The Valley Catholic, Bishop McGrath, and Bishop Cantú. It is so rewarding and being Catholic, it’s a very big honor!
I started photographing events for the Diocese of San Jose in February of 2015 with the Wedding Mass. This is a celebration of all couples in the Diocese who are celebrating 5, 10, 20, 25, 30, etc. years of marriage. It’s so truly inspiring to photograph and meet these couples and get their secrets.
The advice I’ve received from these experts is:
- A deep faith in God
- Communication
- Forgiveness
- The same goals in life
- Humor
- Date Nights
One of my favorites and rarely happens type of ceremony is Vespers. A ceremony where Bishop Cantu became the Coadjutor Bishop of San Jose (meaning he will take over for Bishop Patrick J. McGrath when he retires). Becoming Bishop doesn’t happen that often in a Diocese. Bishop McGrath became the Bishop of the Diocese of San Jose in 1999.
I’ve photographed in most of the Diocese Parishes like the Transitional Deacanation where students learning to become priests become Decans. They then can serve at Mass until they are done learning and become a priest. I was able to photograph this at the beautiful St. Victor’s Church.
